A couple weeks ago at a show I picked up a '82 Donruss pack for $2 and got the Ripken rookie, pretty excited about that. I also remember pulling a '84Mattingly topps rookie out of a pack in the mid '90's and was jumping up and down.

With the newer, by comparison at least, stuff, its just the fun of opening and finding the name, eg. the Ripken in the Donruss.
I think the old pack openers, and I used to be one, are NUTS. If ANYONE opens something awesome, give us results and photos of what you pull

Opened about four 5 cent 1962 Topps packs back in the early 80's from a card shop in Kansas City. The owner had a whole box out and was selling packs for maybe 15-20 bucks a pop. I know, in hindsight I should have purchased everything.
Don't remember any stars and I think the centered cards are in my set to this day. |

I had a dealer friend in the middle later 80s who had a huge deal coming w Mr. Mint. the day before, I went to his store, and he had a bunch of 65 cello packs. He said I could have five for 15.00 each.
![]() I remember getting Clemente, Maris and Koufax out of some of the packs I opened. AT LEAST nines. Sadly they and the packs are long gone. This thread is bringing back a LOT of memories from the good old days. Course, then there was the 69 cello I got from the Atlanta National in 1992 from The Prince of Cards. I didn't open it till a few months later. Twelve commons, w TWO CARDS w WAX on the face in the middle of the pack. Needless to say, I WAS FURIOUS
