Regarding 1914 CJs, why are they much more expensive than their 1915 counterparts? Were less made, or is it simply the case of it being the first Cracker Jack set, and not the 2nd? "If you ain't first, you're last." |

The 1915 set was made available for purchase by mail; the 1914 set was only available in Cracker Jack boxes.

It seems like 1915's have populations of 5-6x's that of 1914s, excluding the truly rare 1914's as some of their pops are in the low teens. There is quite a bit more caramel staining to the 1914's b/c they could only be pulled from CJ boxes themselves. These stains led to rodents eating cards as well. There is also a 1914 CJ collector that literally buys everything f/s tring to drive supply down as he owns 7+ copies of some cards and has no problem with over paying. Tom just finished his set and Barry is close to finishing his and that removes 2 collectors from the mix. The 1914 CJ hog is still out there though and probably will be for awhile. 1914's are an extremely tough set even with all the money in world.
