Thanks Jimmy, that Wheat photo was actually used on the shirts one year at the national several years ago. I enjoyed wearing that shirt as Wheat was born in my home town and is mainly who I collect.

GREAT Wheat picture, Kenny! I collected him for awhile since he was a fellow Missouri guy. Since then I've moved on to other areas of collecting but still regret selling my Wheat collection (all 5 cards LOL).

That's a great example of the 'photo to card' process we see in the '33 and '34 Goudeys. The Lazerri is one of my favorite Goudeys.

I own the shot of Sullivan in street clothes. For years I thought it was the source for the T206, until I saw the other photo. I'm guessing the two were taken at the same photo shoot.

Hi, I am new Net 54, and I am not very good with computers. But I have a collection of some 8x10 black &white baseball photos from the 1940s. 184 in the collection. Over the years have tried to find out more about them, let's just say no one can tell me what I have for sure. I have been told everything from- photostats for baseball cards or that they were sold commercially through catalogs and magazine ads in the 1940s-50s, or that were photo packs. But that just does not fit the profile for these, yes they come close but No concrete evidence as to what.
OK, many of the images on the photos match baseball cards down to the letter. They do utilize the exact same images as the photos. 1947 Bond Bread cards that match: Ted Williams, Harry Brecheen, Aaron Robinson, Tommy Holmes, Bob Elliott, Ewell Blackwell, Lou Boudreau, Vern Stephens, Slats Marion, Bob Feller, Johnny Vander Meer, Andy Pafko, and many others. Note on Bobby Doerr's image-the 1947 baseball card and photo spell his name as Bobbie Doerr. thumbnail_IMG_0301.jpgAnd many of the photos match the 1952 Berk Ross Cards. About 11 in all. The Jackie Robinson and 1952 card- you see the scoreboard and it says 1946. And Satchel Paige's photo is of him playing for the Black Yankees in 1941. I know this because the exact image of him is in the Bettmann/Corbis archives. Last edited by Johnphotoman; 10-20-2021 at 03:22 PM. |

I have to admit I am not really a photo person (love photo's) but no experience on them the picture valuations are so different hard to know what price is right for pictures
But it would be pretty cool to own the card and the photo that it was base off of.

Reviving an old thread so as to post in the appropriate place.
Harry Steinfeldt Cabinet photo taken between 1898-1902 at Meins Studio in Cincinnati Ohio. This is the exact image used to produce both the E107 card and W600 cabinet. Sold in Hunt a few years back and traded hands a couple of time since then. Has now found a permanent home. |

The photo was taken not later than 1899; it was used in the team composite that was issued that year:

This doesn't really belong with all the great photos and cards here, but here's my lame contribution. I collect Al Lassman stuff because of his interesting story. He was an all american tackle at NYU, his career was ended early when he was seriously injured, then he died while recovering from his injury. He was good enough to be chosen for the 1955 Topps All Americans set. I think this pic was used for his 1927 W560 card. My photo has a stain by his ear, otherwise the photo looks the same to me.
