Jeter is 38 and has 3263 hits. Lets say he finishes with 3275.
Rose finished the season at 38 years of age with 3372 hits. Rose played till he was 45 yrs old, accruing 884 hits over a 7 year span after the age of 38 to finish with 4256 hits. Can Jeter average 140 hits over another 7 years to equal Rose's record? Jeter's lowest hit total in a season is 156 in 2003 when he only played 119 games. I say he gets it. But my question is whether he'll be in pinstripes or will it be like Emmitt Smith (NFL rushing record) who played his last years with a different team cuz he wasn't NFL caliber anymore?
