I found him to be quite a personable guy. In the early 1980s, we were seated next to him at breakfast in a restaurant in Williamstown, Massachusetts where his wife was performing in summer theater. He and his wife and daughter, who happened to be about the age of my older daughter at the time, struck up a conversation with us about football and the trials and tribulations of having little kids. He was very approachable and didn't mind chatting with us at all.
