Default Awesome eBay Vander Meer purchase!

I just picked up a terrific unique item for my Johnny Vander Meer collection for under $15- delivered!

Here is an original signed 8" x 11" photo of Vandy's entire March 1944 Basic Training graduating class. The photo is also signed on the front and back by every one of the 85 men from Company 347 (Sampson, NY).

Also accompanying the photo is an original letter from the wife of one of Vandy's basic training company mates, Anthony Leonovich. She discusses how proud her husband was to have graduated with "Johnny Vander Meer- the guy that threw 2 no-hitters in succession".

Vander Meer is pictured 4th from the bottom right and signed the photo directly below his photo. Anthony Leonovich is the 6th guy to the right at top left.

Pretty cool!

This photo of former bantamweight champ Alphonse Halimi is inscribed on the back and references his trip to Los Angeles in 1960 where he lost his bid to recapture the title. I had to send to France to get a Los Angeles-related piece!

Default non-sport autographed cabinet card

I collect cabinet cards and have a short list of desired autographs, so I was thrilled to acquire this Sarah Bernhardt-autographed Nadar cabinet. Also picked up the signed card below, which I believe is a calling card being used to give the bearer 6 tickets to a play:

Old fountain pen autos are the best. Neat pickup.

Thanks - I try to avoid the sharpie Bernhardt autos

I put in reasonable bids on both items, hoping to win one, so if anyone has a nice G.B. Shaw (or anything else interesting) they are interested in trading, please contact me.

Default Roush

Grabbed another Perez-Steele postcard...I'm partial to Blue Sharpie. Other than Lyons, Lopez, Reggie and Lasorda, all I have left on my checklist are the biggies (Paige, Ashburn, Puckett, etc.)...

Anyone else collect these???
