Since I'm just starting getting into this set, I'm not too familiar with the nuances of it. Are there any SP's or variations that I should know about or is it a fairly straightforward checklist? Thanks, AndyH .

Not aware of any variations Andy. Nor have I heard that any particular card is hard to find. I think a warehouse "find" put a lot of these into the market at some point. There is a discussion of that in a prior thread "Topps 1964 Giant Cards" you can find with the search function at top

Thanks for the tip on the previous thread. These things should still be cheap as dirt if there was a find of millions of them! Holy cow. AndyH .

There are about half a dozen short prints, but they are pretty easy to find. I think Koufax and Mays are 2 of them, but they are still readily available on Ebay and affordable. The set is easy to put together and won't cost much

My 1964 Topps Giants Mantle just came in and this Kaline came with it. Also my first 1961 Golden Press.
Thanks, AndyH .

My favorite card (that I can afford) - And I'm already looking to upgrade it to a slightly nicer Auth or Poor condition.

Eugene---that card shows a lot of character and tough love. Bob Costas used to carry a Mantle card with him everywhere he went....in his wallet.

Al - That's funny; mentioned Costas and his dogeared Mantle card in a post here last year and someone informed that he had upgraded the card to pristine examples several times since the original story came out. Guess he can afford it pretty easily.
