An interesting yet pointless collection would be to collect all the different kinds of card holders that have been made.

I'm not sure but I have always heard that the reason Carter, Nagy etc. had caramel pre-WW1 cards which were trimmed was because collectors back in the day trimmed the caramel cards to fit in to "holders" designed for T206 size tobacco cards...

Yes, I'm crazy. I bought the same binder mentioned in 74. Still have it, but I haven't used it in years. We had a thread about hobby supplies a while back. Lots of good info there. Steve B |

My earliest hobby recollections were from the late 70's. Back then, I had 9 pocket, side-loading pages, made from good old PVC...practically guaranteed to turn yellow over a relatively short time. I also had pages to fit 1952-56 Topps. I don't remeber seeing penny sleeves and top loaders until the very early 80's. I believe a '52 Mantle sold at auction for $3,000 in or around 1980 and started the collecting boom that soon saw Card Shops opening up everywhere. Larger selection of supplies following soon thereafter makes sense to me.

So, basically, it's so impressive that PSA 9s and 10s even exist from the 60s and earlier. Crazy!
