Expected, perhaps. Deserved, hardly. No evidence has emerged that he was engaged in anything other than sitting in a car doing coke at the time he was shot in the face. Bad behavior to be sure, but hardly worthy of a death sentence. I don't think anything bad he ever did that we know of deserved death.

For athletes who live troubled lives, things always seem to get worse once their career is over and the structure that perhaps kept the problems in check or perspective goes away. A very sad story and a very inglorious demise.
