Looks like if you do the math, the card is missing about 10% of its cardboard. Using my newly created, completely un-scientific, inverted trim percentage formula, I would pay 10% of the going rate.

Hmm, there seems to be a flaw in that formula. If I understand your rationale you are employing this methodology: trimmed card value = untrimmed card value * (100-(pct of card remaining)). Under that rationale if the card has been trimmed and only 50% remained it would be worth 50% of the untrimmed value.

While that is a noble attempt I have designed my own personal valuation methodology which I prefer and has stood the test of time: trimmed card value = untrimmed card value * zero.

Ah and there's the un-scientific PIECE..at some point it's no longer is a card, it becomes a PIECE of a card. and all value vanishes. I never said it was a perfect formula but it has kept me out of trouble everytime except one..

Different card but same series and value, usually. Most collectors would rather have a nice looking 1 than the trimmed picture shown....
