Not worth any $$, but anytime we go on vacation near the ocean, my kids and I collect seaglass. Anytime you find a blue or red piece, it's been a good day!

I don't exactly "collect" them (anymore) but I have hundreds of heavy metal shirts, tickets, albums (vinyl) and 45s. Slayer, Exodus, Megadeth, Metallica, Yngwie, Sweet Savage, Holocaust, Mercyful Fate, Dio, etc.

One of these days I should take pictures and do scans of them all.

I have 49 years' worth but it is unclear whether the first 15 years even had tickets as the event did not shift from a dinner dance to a theater event until the 16th awards, which is one of the tickets shown above. Since we are at #85 this year, I am short at least 21 tickets. I also have tickets from the Board of Governors Ball--the official after-party--which started with the 30th awards, so there are 55 possible tickets to that event. I have 33 covered.

The backstory on the collection is that my father's company handled the public relations for the Academy for a long time. He and my mother had to attend the ceremony and banquet every year so I ended up with a run of about a dozen years of tickets from what they brought home to me. Then I started chasing the others like cards.

BTW, on the T-shirts, I've seen some of the older ones selling for pretty good bank, so get some cedar into the storage! I know you're in L.A., so you might want to check out this used clothing store in Studio City on Ventura Blvd. that has some concert T's framed up and is asking pretty strong prices on them. I forget the name of the place but it is in the stretch between Whitsett and Laurel Canyon.

Awesome, love to see those.

At one time I had a pretty nice collection of Metal vinyl albums, used to make trips to Rasputins on Telegraph Ave. to find the "good stuff"

The really good stuff was at the Record Vault on Polk in the city, or at the Record Exchange in Walnut Creek.

Although, Rasputin's was closer to the Berkeley Keystone (and maybe Ruthie's Inn) than either of the other two were to any metal clubs.

My friend brought me to the Record Vault on Polk and we picked up a limited copy red vynil of The Accused "The Return of Martha Splatterhead" which was really cool, but that area of the city was a bit "strange" for us

(I think I was like 15 years old)- but, no doubt, they definately had an awesome selection there. The Bay Area had the best music scene.

cassette tapes, specifically hard/metal music. i currently have over 300 tapes ranging from annhialater (sp?) to zera (4-song ep from a local band, late 80's). also including a first-printing of haunting the chapel-sealed.....

ps:
i'm currently looking for a grim harvest box set on cassette tape, if anyone knows where such a copy may exist (grim harvest= metal massacre's first 12 volumes in one boxed collection, had it on cd, now looking for cassette version).

I love Iron Maiden, had all of their albums on vinyl up to Powerslave (went to that concert in San Francisco @ the Cow Palace-Twisted Sister opened for them but were having a very rough time with all of the misc. items being thrown at them

), but that was it. I also loved the early Judas Priest stuff, up to "Screaming For Vengeance",,after that, blah.

So, I don't collect anything metal anymore, but still listen to it alot. Do you collect NWOBHM items?
