To some degree, TPG's are like casinos are to sports betting, they identify point shaving etc. Without Vegas there would be more point shaving etc, and without TPG, the counterfeiters and card doctors would flourish.
And I'm not suggesting that TPG's are anywhere close to perfect, but they do help regulate the market. |

It would probably change the hobby a bit and be a bit destabilizing to "investors." I wouldn't care I collect for fun

The card doctors would go back to selling their cards outside of plastic instead of inside it and for less most likely. Overall it has been a benefit but like anything else there are warts and where money is involved games are played. It isn't going anywhere IMO.
