Was that Clarkson once part of a larger piece? I couldn't tell.

Seems like it was pasted/adhered onto a schedule. The one other one that I am aware of was pasted onto a bigger piece with a different back. Maybe they were thin cards produced by Conly and made available to various interested parties who adhered them to schedules, etc. I am just speculating. There is very little evidence to go on.

I just thought the image was spectacular, maybe unique (?) and fits well with other cards from the era.

The only one I found when looking for info was the one REA auctioned a few years ago.. When you look at the image of the schedule opened you can see it has the same back.

Jim--it has the same back. The schedule is four sides and the image you are seeing is side four. Side two is on the back of the trimmed Clarkson.

Maybe Conly made a few different schedule backs?
