There were a couple of Topps traded sets issued in packs ( I think 1995 was one) , but unlike the 74 and 76, they were in packs separate from the regular set packs. The Traded sets at times became Update Sets or Traded and Rookie sets. To pick up their appeal Topps took to adding "rookies" to those sets

To me, if you are working on complete Topps runs, I would include traded sets. If you are focusing on individual sets, I don't think that you need to have the traded version for any given year to make the base set complete.

I don't consider them a part of the set, but with each set I've built I have the traded set as well. I went as far as to get the story booklets for my 1970 set. Hey, it's a Topps product with a baseball player on it.

Guys---the booklets were included in both 70 and 71...and you need both to be complete
. I found I needed not only those but every insert set...at least through 1994....and then all the issued and unissued test sets ![]() By the way, if you were unaware of the fact there were 70 and 71 booklets...the differences are subtle...you may have a mixed set Last edited by ALR-bishop; 04-02-2013 at 08:10 AM. |

OMG! You mean I have to buy more? I know I should not ask this question for where it may lead me but...
How can you tell the difference between the 70 & 71 versions? |

My mistake Bill. The booklets were strictly a 1970 product I was thinking of the 70 and 71 Scratch Off inserts. For those, the 70s have white, unfolded centers and the 7s red
