I made a great game used score today at a local estate auction...one of the "kids" in the family was a batboy for the Lincoln Chiefs from 1955-57 and I scored 9 game used bats, two game used baseballs, and two team photos. I talked to the guy about the Chuck Klein bat and he said one of the players was using it, but he doesn't remember who.

Thanks Scott. The factory looks like 42 (remains of a 2, and destroyed area just before it)

Dan, you sure seem to find the Nebraska stuff. You must have a museum-quality collection

No kidding! Just when you think all the baseball-related stuff in Nebraska has finally been warehoused in Dan's basement, he finds another cache to add to his hoard Congrats on a nice pick-up! Out of curiosity, could you show the president's side-stamping on the balls? Are they both Johnson?

Kenny, I've had pretty good luck with just placing magic lantern slides on thick white paper or cardstock and just photographing them with a regular camera. May not always work, but for a "no special equipment" method, it usually gives pretty good results.

If you don't mind. I've been cultivating a growing interest in all things "minor league," balls included, and haven't seen that particular side-stamping before. Feel free to e-mail if you don't want to clog things up here.

Lance, I have about 6 or 7 Giles game balls that all have that same stamping...not sure how many team signed balls I have like that, but it's at least another 5. I also have a bunch of Ford Frick balls with Ed Johnson Western League President stampings...I show a couple of them below.

For me, they scan better on one side than the other, with white card behind them.

Picked these up today. I Want to Go to the Ballgame glass lantern slide, John L Sullivan glass lantern slide, Jesse Haines and Clarence Mitchell Centennial Cover, and Jack Johnson and Jess Willard in Cuba postcard. Ballgame slide is pretty but doesn't scan worth a dang.
