He was a first anniversary gift from my wife. Saw it at an antique store and was intrigued by the intensity of the eyes against that red background. Little did she know what she started. Only one of seven of my original collection I kept when I started pursuing putting Howe's collection back together. The other six were either anniversary, Father's Day or Christmas presents from my wife or son.

Thanks! I think they paid $160 for the pair.

Still got it. Still raw. Purchased in 1967 for $5. Bat off and Red P soon followed. Still lacking the Green P.

I still have mine and would never sell it. Unlike my other pre war cards, I get to see it often - every time I post.

I still have 1 of 2. I regret selling the red Cobb but will never let this one go. I have had it for 30+ years.

Still have mine, along with the rest of Lionel Carter's E90-2 set:
SGC downgraded it due to a very small, purple stamp on the back that reads "Gabriel's NY." It's looks like it should be a "4." One of my favorites! Tony Last edited by e107collector; 07-02-2013 at 05:56 PM. |

Yes, it's a T212-2 Erickson I bought on the bidboard of the card shop that for many years was at the corner of Palos Verdes Blvd and PCH next to the Plush Horse in Torrance, CA. In 1979, I won it for $2.

From an ad in Baseball Digest circa 1979. I also bought a Rogers Hornsby fielding 1933 Goudey around the same time, but traded it away a long time ago. |

bought a t206 Mordecai Brown pitching, Lattimore & Iron Man McGinnity at a show somewhere around 1986. Was working on a 1970 Topps set, and planned on plugging a couple holes in it until I saw this little guy with around 200 of these tiny cards for sale. Picked the 3 that I liked the best. Wish I'd have bought more.

my first old card was an N43 large ginter card of Fogarty. It came from a Rich Galasso auction around 1994/1995? I have since built my set around it. He called it excellent and it graded out at VG/X many years later. I would never sell it. It will accompany a Tokio Cigarette pack I bought from David Grimes (RIP) that has an original to the pack Red Cloud silk. Not an expensive item - but personal connections are often important as it relates to my hobby quests - it will go down with the ship as well!
