One of the apocryphal stories of minor league baseball in central Washington featured longtime fiery PCL player/manager, Edo Vanni, who wrestled a bear in between games of a double header. He played for Yakima Bears in 1949, but the story has had many settings including Yakima, Wenatchee and even Salem Oregon. By all reports the bear won. Event sponsored by Sick's Brewing & Malting of Sick's Stadium and Seattle Pilots infamy.
