I am just totally amazed that a $10,000 card was at $100 with less than a minute to go!! Where were all the bidders at?? Or was everyone hoping to steal this card for literally pennies on the thousands??

robert...i was slow at work yesterday...and when I saw it...I couldn't believe it was so cheap. I thought it had to be fake. After scrutinizing it I realized it was real...just thought it was flying under the radar. seller had other older items I figured maybe it was found in one of the older books he was selling. nonetheless...now we know...Balt News cards DON'T get past DAN!!!!!!

The title of the seller's description was wrong and misspelled. Should have read 1914 Baltimore News. If you were looking specifically for it you may not have seen it. I didn't pick up on it until the last twenty minutes on a generic search.
Looking at price guides and Old Cardboard I knew that it was valuable, but didn't realize how rare. I probably would have bid higher if I had known, but not over Dan's 5 digit snipe. I'm happy that he got the card. Just confirms that the more you know about cards the better prepared you are to act when presented a buying opportunity. I need more Prewar schooling. Great job Dan. ![]() I think the Baltimore News cards may have inspired the creator of the La Pizza Royale series. Ebay used to be a lot easier to scroll through. Now stuff slips through all the time. Nice grab. |
