could be from around 1900
The Louisville Bat company with their familiar horseshoe logo along with the mascot model were sold to the H&B company in the 1920s and they kept the line for a few years offering signature model bats of both minor league players. (from Mears site)

Thanks everyone for the information. My barber's father had it in the shop to use in case he needed to defend himself. He has it in a bat case now. I will let everyone know if he decides to sell it.
