For as popular as he was, quality Koufax images are actually pretty tough to find. Those are both beautiful examples Bob.

This has to be one of the better pick up threads we've had in quite some time. The variety and quality is outstanding on every one them. Congrats to all on outstanding additions.

I was lucky enough to pick up this photo recently. IMO, one of the FINEST Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig photos in existence! It is an 8x10 large, Original Silver-Gelatin photo and offers absolutely stunning clarity taken just prior to the 1927 World Series. It has been used multiple times over the decades passed and is really cool to see that it was used in 1961 to publicize when Roger Maris broke Ruth's homerun record! It has some paper loss around the edges but the central image of Ruth & Gehrig is pristine still has its original caption attached to the reverse!

Perhaps one of the more under-rated players in terms of memorabilia appeal, Rogers Hornsby, but the guys numbers are sickening. .358 lifetime BA over a 23 year career. During his age 28 season in 1924 he hit .424!!! with 25 home runs, and then followed it up the following year stumbling to a .403 BA with 39 HRs and 143 RBI. What kind a contract would those numbers bring these days?
A little more than the $90 dollars a month he made with this Texas team. This nearly 9 x 7 original photo dates to 1914 or 1915 just prior to joining the St Louis Cardinals, here on the Denison Railroaders. I'd like to get a look at the back of the photo but its affixed to a vintage cardboard backing. |

Not a gamer, but still a great uniform related item in my book. What I love about these is that Carey actually applied for and received a patent for this design. Patent number awarded to Carey is 1,641,318 and dated September 6th, 1927. Plan is to display these, a copy of the patent information at the MEARS Museum. We are still working on our Pirates exhibit so it will probably not be until 2014 that we add this team.

My wife and I got back from a week long trip to the Clearwater, Fl area and took a side trip to purchase a pretty large collection of bats, gloves, uniforms and photos. Spent our 25th anniversary day doing it. 95% of the bats are 1940's and earlier. Mike
