When you say "a piece of nitrate film," are you talking about a frame of movie film, or a still camera negative? Any markings you can see on the edges of the film (manufacturer, and often a coding of sorts) can help to date the film stock and approximate a date for the image. Sometimes. Would help if you could show the whole frame out to the very edges of the film (not just the image area). Also, a larger, closer cropping of just his head would help for ear and other feature comparisons.

At first glance, it certainly does look like him to me, but I've grown very hesitant to give the thumbs-up to anonymous lookalikes from random photographs. Definitely worth looking into though!

Please look at link below. There are 9 images prior to "Honus" and a couple
afterwards. As they seem to have a hunting theme, I thought they could be from one of the movies he had signed to do and never finished.
