Default Clemente

Great Clemente, Greg; but it is not "raw", it is in it's natural and intended, unfettered state

Thanks Steve! The Bench and Mantle are going to be cracked out so they can join my raw 69 Topps set.

And now I have another of the monstrously tough 1972 'in action' cards to find with decent L/R centering. (It looks much better in person as it seems the holder has all sorts of dust and particles appearing.)

A big thank you to a Net54 member who reached out after seeing me post regarding this card. Creeping along toward set completion as I was able to add 3 in 2013.

Chris: You have BOTH 1955 Exhibit Card Postcard backs? One with the plain line and one with the Mutoscope line on the back?

1975 Topps Yount.jpg
(the Yount, Brett and 1980 Topps Rickey will always be $250 cards in my mind!)

Nope. I don't have the Pittsburgh Exhibit Mantle, either of the postcard back Exhibits, or the Dad's Cookies. I set my collecting goals at what I could reasonably expect to find. My thoughts were that I would add those cards that a kid growing up in the 50s and 60s could reasonably expect to find. From my understanding, I believe the Postcard backs had very limited distribution. In total, I have been able to pick up 235 different cards. I think there are roughly another 30 cards out there that were issued of Mantle (foreign, Topps test cards that were issued, and regional issues). I really hope to be fortunate enough to continue to define, and conquer, my "set" as money, time, health, and good luck allow. Right now, I have already moved 7 cards from my would like list to my want list. Someday, I hope to pick up the rest.

Want to sell your postcard backs?

Leon, love your bazooka items. Such crazy defects.

Nelson, the picture below is right a little more than half the collection. I started running out of space and did not think I could fit much more in the picture, so I did not disturb a couple stacks of cards. (Note: the carpet is brand new and not stained, not sure why it looks off color in the picture like that).

Before I ever starting to collect anything post war I had a list of five that "I'm never going to get these cards".

They were a 1968 Nolan Ryan rookie, 1953 Bowman Pee Wee Reese, 1953 Topps Satchell Paige, 1952 Bowman Willie Mays and 1949 Leaf Stan Musial.

Thanks to my wife as a birthday gift I was finally able to find the last of these five that I needed in a range I could afford and not look like it went through a washer machine.

So excited about this one as I have become quite a Musial fan over the last few years.
