Thanks guys !
Impatient to receive it.
I saw they are 2 different back for the 56 Mantle card... gray back and white i think...

Any of these 2 back are more valuable ? or no money difference between these 2 back ?

I got mine a while ago, so I don't remember this specifics. I think there was a small premium for the white back, but nothing all that significant. There are also variations with the 52 Topps (no premium for either but I think Variation B may be a bit more difficult to locate) and 69 Topps (there is a premium for the white letter variation that I remember being a bit larger than the premium for the 56 Topps variation).

Careful if you decide to go after the variations. It is addictive.

Per PSA's website, series #1 (card numbers 1 through 180) were printed with both white and gray backs, with cards numbered 1 through 100 containing more white backs, while cards #101-180 containing more gray.

http://www.psacard.com/Articles/Arti...baseball-cards

Since Mantle's 1956 Topps card is # 135, the white back variation is more scarce, and would be the one commanding a premium, if any. However, in looking at recently sold PSA 5 1956 Topps Mantles, I'm not seeing any discernible premium on the cards with white backs. There's been a pretty wide variance in where this card has sold in the last few months, and that could be impacted by things like centering, and eye appeal.

1972.jpg

This may be lost on most people here, but these are 4 of the absolutely toughest 1972 cards to find in anything better than (at best!) 90/10 left to right centering. Look on ebay and virtually every single one of these is terribly miscut with only the slightest hint of white appearing on the left side. I am completely psyched to pick these up for my ever improving set upgrade!!

1970alyea303.jpg

And this is the cool 1970 variation where the baseball is missing from the cartoon on back. (I guess I should've scanned the back, too.)

The 1972 "In Action" cards are the coolest cards of the 70's.

I just don't know how they missed Lou Brock.

One on my all time favorite cards. And just think even with the hole it's still 99% all there. That makes it an "A".

Nice pick up.

Great Clemente, Greg; but it is not "raw", it is in it's natural and intended, unfettered state

And now I have another of the monstrously tough 1972 'in action' cards to find with decent L/R centering. (It looks much better in person as it seems the holder has all sorts of dust and particles appearing.)

A big thank you to a Net54 member who reached out after seeing me post regarding this card. Creeping along toward set completion as I was able to add 3 in 2013.

Nope. I don't have the Pittsburgh Exhibit Mantle, either of the postcard back Exhibits, or the Dad's Cookies. I set my collecting goals at what I could reasonably expect to find. My thoughts were that I would add those cards that a kid growing up in the 50s and 60s could reasonably expect to find. From my understanding, I believe the Postcard backs had very limited distribution. In total, I have been able to pick up 235 different cards. I think there are roughly another 30 cards out there that were issued of Mantle (foreign, Topps test cards that were issued, and regional issues). I really hope to be fortunate enough to continue to define, and conquer, my "set" as money, time, health, and good luck allow. Right now, I have already moved 7 cards from my would like list to my want list. Someday, I hope to pick up the rest.

Want to sell your postcard backs?

I been wanting one of these for a while. I just keep getting outbidded, well one finally laid in my lap at the right time..sometimes its worth the wait.
Santa came a bit early:
1951 wheaties premium

i was the somewhat 'unlucky' bidder on this one..I thought it was unique and didnt really put much attention into it..So i placed a very mininal early bid....then find out days later...its nothing more than a magazine cut-out..buts holds some nominal value to PSA set collectors...so maybe all is not lost.
1966 Nolan Ryan The Sporting News pre-rookie ..needed for PSA registry now ,,,still fits into my RC collection somehow.

Bought the magazine last week and not sure if I posted it--it is complete and both cards appear to be in great shape. Thanks Scott! Just picked up the color photo today. I've seen it described as a 1969 Team Issued Photo, but if anyone knows more about it I would love to hear. It looked period, and I have a thing for affordable premium issued photos.

Beautiful card. Love the colors on it.

Leon, love your bazooka items. Such crazy defects.

Nelson, the picture below is right a little more than half the collection. I started running out of space and did not think I could fit much more in the picture, so I did not disturb a couple stacks of cards. (Note: the carpet is brand new and not stained, not sure why it looks off color in the picture like that).
