The Mantle ball is pictured next to the DiMaggio. The Mantle ball is most definitely authentic for certain, but also not really for sale, my parents got me that one when I was a kid, and actually gave it to me on my bday the 15th and Mantle unfortunately passed away the very next day, the 16th, if I remember right.
The Joe D I've never bothered to have authenticated, got it in the late 80's from a guy that was a major league scout and manager for the Brooklyn dodgers. I grew up near him, and he gave me several autos that he had when he was getting up later in his years, couple years before he past away. DiMaggio he said he got in person once a a show where they were both signing that day. No reason for me not to believe him, he had an amazing life, career, stories, and memorabilia, can't imagine he would lie to me, and no way he faked it himself. But again, that one has never been in front of an authentication either. And the Robinson is authenticated by JSA. Last edited by estaples; 12-08-2013 at 10:05 AM. |

Definitely NOT authentic.
Please post a photo of the entire "Mickey Mantle" signature on that baseball. |

Ok then DiMaggio not for sale I'll keep it myself with the Clyde Sukforth ball, guy I got it from, and man that signed jackie Robinson to the majors
![]() Jackie Robinson, still available for sale, unless I find something to frame with it first, then I'll keep it with these other two, good to go together anyway, since he's the scout that brought jackie to the pros ![]() Last edited by estaples; 12-08-2013 at 10:13 AM. |

Could you send me some photos of the book itself? I'm very interested and I'd probably get it rebound with a custom cover and I'm curious if the book itself is in good enough shape to do that. Thank you.

Yes, it could certainly be rebound in my opinion, just the spine is shoot, and cover some smoke damage or something, but actually all intact and tight, pages clean, remarkably descent otherwise. Some more pics so all can see, again sorry if pics are twisted around, I don't know why.

I was fortunate enough to be able to buy this book from Eric. I bought an identical unsigned book in much better condition and had the signed page removed and bound into the pristine copy. The result is a pristine signed first edition of Jackie Robinson's 1948 autobiography.
