Circa 1994-1995-1996. It was from a typed sale list....3-4 pages. Bought that and another card for about $4K or so. Can't remember the other card though...it was about G to GVG overall but nice picture.

This auction did have some red flags but I believe the card to be real and someone got a good, not great, deal. There have been some superior examples that have surfaced. The known population of the Detroit K-Bats cards (to me) has doubled in the last couple years (3 => 6) and they nearly all have amazing photo quality. The 1887 Detroit team photo utilized is also fairly common in that Frank Tomlinson (Tomlinson Studio) sold it in many different formats. Tomlinson marketed the Championship team pic Nationally through newspaper ads and must have produced a healthy quantity, many of which have stood the test of time.

Congrats to the new owner.

Looks like Keith Olbermann won it.

At first I was going to ask how you knew it was him, then I did a little aggregate research. You are correct. Awesome pickup Mr. Olbermann.

I am in agreement with Joe....good buy but not a great buy. Nice photo with a bit more creasing than the other few I found online, but also a bit less $$ too.

There were a lot of really good things on those sales lists, stuff that was so much easier to find back then. And I could sell multi-thousand dollar items without even showing a picture. Now you can't even sell a ten dollar card without a high- res scan.

Just not much trust out there anymore, this has permeated through society as a whole. So many scams in all walks of life, who the heck can you trust anymore? Its so sad, man.

Not completely...recently a lady contacted me about a 1950s Lincoln Chiefs baseball jersey that her brother had...she lives in Arizona, and I live in Nebraska, I told her I would buy it if it was authentic, she sent it to me and told me to send her a check when I get it. I advertise for buying postcards on Craigslist, some guy in Kansas saw my ad and sent me over 1,000 postcards through the mail to make an offer on...I got them, made an offer and he rejected it, so I sent them back. These were people who didn't know me at all...I'm not so sure I would do the same thing they did.

Default Love those team cards

Did not know about this auction on ebay. Own two team cards athletics and boston. So rare to see one on ebay. Would love to own the set but the rest come up so infrequently. My real desire is a peck & snyder cdv or large but those also are rare at auction.
