Default 1920s Joe Sewell Game Worn Cleats

The most recent addition to the Hall of Fame case in my office is this pair of 1920s cleats worn by Joe Sewell (1977 HOF inductee).

Along with the cleats I also received a letter from Joe Sewell written to the previous owner as well as a gold HOF plaque postcard and the original box addressed by Mr. Sewell to the previous owner (which is who I bought them from).

Joe Sewell was the most difficult man in major league history to strike out. In 7,132 at-bats he struck out only 114 times. He also holds the record for consecutive games without a strikeout, at 115.

Default Coliseum seats

Didn't see that there was already a thread started, so I deleted my old post...

Picked up this pair of New Haven Coliseum Interlocking floor seats at my local flea market today (Yes, the redwood flea market is open despite the near zero temps...) Thought that they were pretty cool given the former Coliseum's history (Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, The Allman Brothers, and one of my personal favorites ZZ Top)... They didn't last long... I showed them to a good friend who just bought his first home, he made me an offer (which I refused) and gave them to him as a housewarming gift...

No longer mine, but I thought I would share...

Now that's a complete pickup, Tim. Nice one!

Not very vintage.. But was able to pick up this medal given to former Negro League pitcher Robert Scott from the John Henry "Pop" Lloyd Foundation. Was given to Scott in the early 2000s when they were honoring Negro League players.

Default Not vintage but...

I'm really excited about my latest pickup. As some may know, I collect stuff related to former top prospect Josh Phelps (Blue Jays, Indians, Rays, Yankees, Cardinals, Giants). As you can imagine, the market for his stuff isn't terribly deep and, frankly, I own most of the good stuff already. So a couple weeks ago, I saw that Celebzdirect was offering Lineup Cards from 2002 as part of thier Sam Perlozzo collection (items he was selling). Seeing as they had a bunch of lineup cards, I figured I'd see if they had any Blue Jay ones from when Josh was on the team. Turns out they had several...and I purchased two. The first, from September 16th of 2002, was from a game in which Josh hit his 15th - and final - home run of his rookie season and accounted for both of the Blue Jays runs in a 2-0 victory over Baltimore. He came in 6th in the ROY voting for 2002 while his teammate, Eric Hinske, won the award.

It is already signed by Mike Bordick who had some kind of errorless streak going at the time.

The 2nd was from the following days game when Josh had another productive day at the plate...I'm sending this one to Josh for his collection as a belated Christmas gift. He and his family are good people and they've treated my family very well over that past several years.

Most of my other collecting interests are purely vintage but I still get a charge when I find something cool for this player collection...

A big thank you to Dave T. for these beauties!

These are season passes to St. Paul Saints games for the 1922, 1923, and 1924 seasons (they won the Junior World Series in '24). It also looks like these belonged to Lute Boone's wife. He was the Saints shortstop for 7 seasons. He also played for the Yankees from 1913-1916.

Very nice!

I too grabbed a few line ups from this offering. A special one for me is from a game not played - resulting in a dated but blank line up card. My friend and I had an early Sept. 2001 road trip planned to watch our Jays play the Orioles in Bmore, and then the tragic events of Sept 11 changed the lives of all of us. This game ready but unused card will have a prominent place in my collection as act as a reminder of all that was lost that day.

Default Cubs Pinbacks

Very excited about my first Cubs pinback additions of 2014. I'm going to attempt to complete the Chicago Evening American set, so if you have any available for sale or trade, please let me know
