I'd search eBay and see if you can find the sold listing.
I'm currently dealing with a similar situation (but on the other side). I won an auction and tried to register the card. Same email sent to ex owner. Received a reply back from PSA stating the owner didn't sell the card. I contacted the eBay seller and he acted like he didn't have any idea what I was talking about...the card should be here any day. At that point I'm going to send a scan to PSA and see what happens.
