My only intent is to provide some additional information on these "cards", not to ignite a what is a card controversy. I once owned 9 of them, including one which is not listed, i.e. Joe Wood. I obtained them in the early 90's from Bob Wood and most, if not all of them had the players names in ink on the front in Wood's hand. While i no longer have them, they were, in my opinion, studio cabinet photos, (likely silver gelatin), in folders with tissue paper and it is highly unlikely they were ever "sold" , but were commissioned for the players only. (more like horner cabinets than pinkertons) The ones i had were Carrigan, Engle, Hooper, Lewis,
Speaker, Wagner, Gardner, Stahl and Wood. The ones on ebay were not from the group I had since they did not have Wood's writing on them. |
