I know this isn't the point of the post, but can I see the 1888 card?
I didn't know much about either the 1888 or 2012 versions of this set so I did some research - looks like only 10 of each card was printed across the board in 2012 and I like the 2012 backs - I'm guessing the original backs were blank or ads. The Original Beecher
Here is the original Beecher prior to encapuation. The front is beautiful, the back...not so much. The original backs had checklists of the cards included in the set which consisted of Beecher, the only football card, baseball and other sports that were popular during the era. I took a chance on this one because I'd rather have a card graded AUT that is stripped with a very nice front than one with a numeric grade that looks like it was rung out like a washrag.
No takers yet on the 2012. I'm open to negotiation either on the price or the cards I want. Last edited by powderfinger; 06-29-2014 at 10:14 AM.
