Scott,
Wow. 35 direct underbids! That has to be some sort of record.
I wish I had more money as well. I would've gone after another 4 or 5 Gehrig photos that I thought sold very reasonably.

That is a great Hooper.

Albert,
You're not alone. It happens to all of us.
I did the same thing with the Legendary auction in September. So many photos sold for under value that I am still kicking myself.

It certainly is for me. I sort of wish I had gone higher on the Weaver and Speaker/Hornsby. Several of the Gehrigs were very inexpensive until late, but I knew I was dreaming - especially the 1939 portrait. Another beauty that I would have gone much higher on if it had been larger format, was the Lajoie - that had to be the best photo of him I've ever seen. I also liked the Cobb, but once any print goes above $1,000, unless it's mounted, I quit looking at it.

Also, the Pepper Martin photo is Kreindler-worthy - what a well-composed picture.

I was VERY excited to win these two beauties:

Historic photo of Joe DiMaggio extending his hit streak to 56 games:

Bonus baby Sandy Koufax contemplating the start of his career in 1955:

The Weaver in uniform is one of the coolest pics I've ever seen.

Brendan, it was a bad night not to have extra cash. I would have loved to have had $3K to throw at the Weaver, Speaker/Hornsby and Lajoie. Might have had enough leftover for a Gehrig.

Mark- thanks man! This is a tough one.. Photos were going for a fractions of their value. I was going for most of the Gehrig's, boxing and Grange photos. I was on the way home to bid, I got home fired up the pc "Closed for bidding!"
F*~•K!!!

I guess I gotta look at legendary I'm no longer a fan of since they screwed so many ppl over. Sorry for the rant.

Albert

Happily, I picked up a 1924 world series game scene.
I now have a world series game scene from every year 1926-1949;
1920,1924; 1915 and 1917--all framed(except '24 just won) and all type 1.
great fun.
great acquisitions, fellas.

all the best,
barry
