There were a LOT of great football photos in this auction as well. I picked up a bunch. Here are some of my favorites:

Jim Thorpe and teammates at Carlisle

Cal Hubbard, member of BOTH the Pro Football and Baseball HOFs

Vince Lombardi as a player at Fordham (#40)

And for who prefer baseball:

1878 Yale baseball team including Walter Camp (tallest player in back)

Thanks Derek - there were so many great portrait in this auction, that it was hard not to get a few. I plan to mat and frame a few and re-decorate the man-cave.

I think that Sisler card was a hidden gem in the auction - great pick-up.

Jeff - beautiful Yale cabinet. I thought I might sneak away with that one and the 1860's cdv, but no such luck. Glad it went to a good home.

The Sisler and Hoyt are both KILLER. I especially love the latter - I can't believe how young he is there. Schoolboy, indeed.

Thanks, Scott, will do. I wish I could've talked with him for a couple of hours about baseball and Babe Ruth.
My dad said him and Jimmie Foxx would talk a lot when Foxx had a restaurant back in the early sixties here in Galesburg.
