Well Johnny, I hope you continue to enjoy these scraps vicariously through the collections of others, and that every now and then one of your friends tosses a sympathy scrap your way

As far as "hate on something good" - I don't hate them;in fact I love them. If you remember, I wrote an article about them. I will gladly buy additional scraps if I think they are enough below the current market value that I can re-sell them at a profit. I sold my previous ones for a reason - I just wasn't in love with them enough to keep them, and I got serious bucks for every last one of them, which I used to buy other things. You are a smart guy - you understand this. Quit playing dumb I find it ironic that you personally had such a huge part in destroying your own ability to collect something you love. You talked so much about them that you convinced your friends who had cash, and now you're kind of out of the game.

For your sake, given how much you wish you could afford to buy some, I wish the market price had stayed low. I'm sure you miss those days. Me - I sold all of mine, so obviously I wasn't quite so in love with them as you. That makes them a commodity in my mind, and that's still how I look at them.

In 1983 I could have bought a T206 Wagner for well under $50,000. I didn't. I regret it. Scraps - not so much.

Good luck, Johnny. I hope you get over being scrap poor and assuming everyone else feels the same way.

Johnny, bewildered over ten years of these retorts of yours, I sent you an email. But just read this post and it sounds like you just have a weird sense of humor. In the future I'll take your responses with a grain of salt.

1. Tim, I'm not sure what you're talking about...there isn't any debate: Mary Ann.

2. Fred, you are cruel. Just cruel.

3. My favorite debate is any one where someone says that a particular card isn't worth $x because they used to pay $x/10 for the card 15+ years ago.

Cheers,
Steve

That thing about Lovey or Betty White..... hmmmm..... Lovey was born in 1900 and Betty White was born in 1922, does that help?

Fred - you have abused this thread...even worse than me and Johnny. I will never again be able to watch Gilligan's Island with the same level of ... fantasy?

Fred and Scott,
I was laughing when I was responding knowing the funny stuff that would be posted.
You guys have helped my otherwise sucky day get better. Thanks, I needed the laughs.
Tim

Tim, I have to thank you as well. When I started this thread I was feeling a little mischievous, but you injected some humor, which is better. Still feeling mischievous, here are a few more...

"Let's discuss the merits of the Type system for classifying photos"
"Are the TPAs really trying to authenticate autographs, or just trying to grab a buck whenever possible?"
"Who knows more about T206's, Txx or Tyy?" (you didn't think I would actually type names did you?)
"Is it okay to cut up old baseball guides?"
"Is it okay to read Hauls of Shame?"
"Is it okay to bid with AH's that have ever done anything wrong?"
"Is Grandpa Simpson really the Lindbergh baby?"
