I hope I don't get laughed out of this thread, with what I have to offer. However, I had the chance to go thru a chest of family members stuff, that had been sealed up since the late 50s. It was mostly WWI, and WWII militaria from my ggreat grandfathers, and grandfather. I admit, that I wanted to rummage thru these boxes, hoping to find baseball cards..but my mom warned me up front..that she didn't think any of her relatives collected sports cards...and none of them that she remembered had ever smoked. It didn't stop me from searching. I've spent the last few days going thru the boxes, and there is some AMAZING war items. A lot of really good/collectible war memoribilia, from letters, postcards, and medals to roadmaps and Nazi pistols, flags, and daggers. Really some interesting stuff, and jhave had a great time learning about my families past.

But at the end of the day..no tobacco baseball cards. Or baseball cards of any kind really. Pretty bummed. However...there were a ton of advertising cards, of sort. Soap, Coffee, cologne etc.... There were about 50 cards in all, from different years ranging from about 1890 to the mid1940s. Nothing really stuck out to me, as having a reason to be valuable..so I just snapped a pic of a handful to share. Once again..don't laugh... but any comments are welcome, and if some reason, theres something there that's worth a small fortune..please let me know.

Laugh you off the board? No way! Thats awesome...we all wish we could rummage through an old trunk locked up from the 1950s. You didnt find baseball stuff but still discovered some really cool stuff! Congrats

In a neat little Antique shop in Oklahoma last week, I found this Plow Boy Tobacco tin. It's 6" high and 5" in diameter and contained 12 oz. of tobacco.
It's pretty clean for a 100+ year old tobacco tin.

I'm not sure if the circa of this Tin is 1910 - 1912. But, I'm sure Jon C. (or any one else) on this forum can identify the year(s).







We just returned home and I haven't had a chance to photograph it. So for now, the scan of this round object on a flat screen will have to do.

Here's a full cigarette pack that I got from you years ago; and, it's quite neat that every cigarette in it
is labelled AMERICAN BEAUTY.

Is this typical of the other ATC brands, where their name is printed on each cigarette ?

I've seen others. Pirate, Piedmont and Tolstoi all printed on the cigarettes, themselves.

Here's an extremely rare one that I recently got scans of. The proper size for the N284s.

I had to drop out because it was still too "new" for me and my narrower focus. Only one I had seen before was at Tik's table 7/8 years ago. I tried to snag it for 100.00 and while we were talking - Jr. decided to take it off the table.....
Ted - I have a small collection of single cigarettes from a few major 19th century manufacturers - they all have their brand in the paper. As for your Chesterfield question my initial thought was they did issue branded pinbacks of women but haven't really had time to look or think about it much..........

For all the Cracker Jack enthusiasts here's a couple of ads circa 1910 and 1914.

The first is a patent for their "triple proof package" from the January 1910 Confectioners Journal.

The second is an ad from the January 1914 International Confectioner.

Those are cool Erik. I have seen a CJ package with it advertising a card I believe, but not sure. Your ad says there is a prize in a box but doesn't mention a card. I wonder if anyone has an ad saying there is a card inside a box? Thanks again to everyone for posting their ad related items. Here us a Pinkerton (T5 associated) letter that is turning down some poor quality tobacco.

Leon, the only piece that I know of which advertised BB cards with the CJ box was the original circa 1915 ad that REA sold off years ago. The box itself only had the word "Prize" on it though. Pic from REA below....
