Kudos to Jeremy for not getting defensive and looking at it constructively. I had not had a chance to email you back when you answered me, but ironically the "smell test" is one of the things I do when evaluating a pennant like this. All of these newer reproduction pennants will have a synthetic smell instead of a natural fiber (IE: cotton) smell to them. Also, when you manipulate the fabric it responds like a synthetic instead of a pressed natural fabric like most of these were made of. If you still cannot tell, you can attempt to pull the fabric apart. The original fabric will pull apart as it is pressed material where synthetic will stretch, but not pull apart. One last thing you can check is the graphics. When you attempt to crease the graphics the vintage graphics will generally crack, whereas most reproductions will bend and not crack. These "tests" can be manipulated by a forger, but it would take significant effort. If you choose to keep the pennant it will still look nice in your collection. If you choose to get a refund, let me know if you need any help with explaining details to the seller. I think they probably knew what they had though. BTW, those other full size pennants you showed are very difficult to find. Good luck with your collection. Jason

Recently picked up this 1940's Bills pennant from Keith at AntiqueSportsShop.com. Love the old AAFC pennants.

I'd like to get some info on these two minis, the approximate date and maybe who issued them.
The green pennant without the ties is 14.5 inches long with the clipped tip. The Egner guide lists it as 1950's but I suspect it's earlier than that and I recall seeing similar pennants for other teams. The black mini is 4 inches long x 1.5 inches high probably a gum or candy premium but I haven't seen this particular design before. Thanks! |

Can a woman's silk headscarf also be a banner? Is this a hobby subset? They have some great graphics... Mike
