I don't hate any of them, but Spike Shannon isn't a pretty looking card. I vote for Spike.

Default Dick Egan

Was the patron saint of the Sabr Deadball committee and we almost burned a T206 card of his as a sacrifice to ensure a successful committe.

We all thought he was the most hard scrabbled portrait in T206

I actually like the Purtell and Shannon because of the colors and details in the grass/background.

Egan is definitely my least favorite. Hate the teeth. Absolutely horrific looking.

I think we have an interesting new sub-set idea!

"I'm four cards away from a Least Appealing set!"

I have to strongly disagree. How can a photograph of somebody not look like them? Regardless of whether or not it looks like him, is the card unappealing? That's the question being asked. I think the Johnson T206 portrait is one of the most beautiful cards ever made.

This card was released in 1909. Johnson started his career in 1907. When this card was in circulation in tobacco packs, Johnson was 20 years old, with a 19-23 career record. He wasn't even a star yet, and had 398 of his wins ahead of him yet.

The vast majority of pictures I've seen of the Big Train represent him later in his career. Well, this card portrays Johnson when he was still a kid, really. He's not going to look like a grizzled veteran at twenty years old.

Here's a tobacco ad of Johnson circa 1915. It is much closer in resemblance to the Johnson portrayed on his portrait card.

I vote for Egan, but ... the fact that Burns is shown wearing the wrong glove on the wrong hand makes it hard not to vote for that one.
