I'm surprised these aren't catalogued as a set. I don't see them in either the Standard Catalog or the Beckett Almanac. Since the Tribune still has it's archive availabe for free, I'll put together a checklist for these. --------- I've posted about the set on my blog. The checklist can be found here: 1963 Chicago Tribune Autograph Album I also went ahead and compiled the checklist for the 1980 Sox & Cubs Scrapbook. That will be posted in a couple of days. I absolutely love these types of "cards" and when you say search, I wonder how successful you are in looking for them vs. being lucky enough to stumble upon someone finally listing them for sale. I have a few assorted and regardless of the team or player, wouldn't hesitate to add others to my collection, especially in set form. I had always looked for the 1980-81 Long Beach Press telegram Dodgers/Angels and knew of them through images and/or catalog listings. Earlier this year, someone listed some Padre newspaper sets from the 80s and in all the time I have been collecting Steve Garvey, I had never even seen or heard of them and then BAM!, 3 new sets appear that I had never seen since their issue in 1983-86 time frame. It leads me to believe there may be a couple other years issues, but still MIA. Good Luck in your search! Quote:

| Newspaper Cutouts Quote:
Man, I love some newspaper cutouts. Those are awesome! Just so funny to me that the papers give us the lines, or dots, etc. and we still could not cut straight back in the day. None of the newspaper cutouts I have are near straight. I don't have any of the cutouts that are color, so that makes them even more interesting. Thanks for sharing... |

It is worse than that. There are 3 wrong guys in the "set". That is not Carl Furillo. I have never heard a definitive explanation of the purpose of that issue or a good theory of how/why they could get 3 of 8 cards wrong |
