Not vintage but last night I was able to meet Ken Griffey Jr and I got him to sign my 1987 Bellingham Mariners uncut sheet.

He was up in the Seattle area for a charity event put on by former Seattle Seahawk, Kenny Easley. They had a golf tournament early in the day then at night they had a reception at a winery.

He showed up late at the reception and instantly went to the back and got on his phone. You could tell that he didn't really want to be there or to interact with fans. When he got off the phone, I approached him and he semi reluctantly signed the item after asking what it was. He wasn't in the best mood but did sign one item for people that came up to him (side paneled all baseballs) and posed for pictures (refused to smile).

For $40 to attend the event, I was more than pleased that I got to meet the player that I idolized growing up. I would get there were less than 200 people at the event including the other celebrities.

Awesome experience MacDice! Probably quite a few local sports celebrities at Easley's Golf tournament. I hit a round in Jon Kitna's Classic at Suncadia a couple weeks back, but did not find the autograph I was looking for as Billy North (CWU alum) failed to show .

that's a pretty crappy griffey sig. they're all suspicious you're gonna turn around and resell it on ebay (which 95% of the time is true). i don't blame them for the attitude.

I have seen better Griffey signatures for sure but can't complain too much since the event only cost me 40 to attend and if he ever does a signing I have to imagine prices would be north of 250. This particular item I never thought I would get signed will not be on eBay ever
