Yeah you can do that.
Some try do a 'custom registry' and then can do a 'cert lookup' in which then you can see if someone owns it and send a email of change of ownership. Plus also see if the decsription matches the card or if the number is not in the registry at all. @Jesse: if theres something you want checked, i can look it up Here is SGC page: click under the resources tab.
