Matt,

That 76 Brett is really, really nice. I have a loose set and probably upgraded 10 times since I first tried to put it together back in well....76..... I don't mind the O/C side to side so much as those stupid diamond cut and tilts...bleh!

Thanks, Ricky. The card is a beast to find with eye appeal. Sharp corners might get one into an 8 or even 9 holder, but even then the graders don't seem to penalize them as much as they should for poor image quality and tilt.

Jesse, I was a huge fan as a kid as well-- could not help but admire how he went about his mental and physical domination of the competition. Saw him dismantle my beloved Knicks so many times... The man was unstoppable, truly.

Now back to staring at the new Mick from The National, before he goes to the bank!

Default My latest pick-ups are scum compared to the other cards in this thread...

...but I still love them. A few rookie additions. The Hernandez mini was in a PSA 7 Holder. The Fran Healy was in a PSA 8 holder - and was my first time breaking into the new holder - needless to say - the Healy is now NM, probably. The Darrell Evans will not be cracked out, because I've learned my lesson: the new holders are a pain to crack open.

Not nearly the National haul I was hoping for but still not too bad. I was a little gun shy but managed to pull the trigger on a few things. It's always nice to add a few centered Micks to the collection and it was a blast just being there browsing.

The Brett was a MattyC style add. He clearly influenced my taste in cardboard growing up. For $14, how can you go wrong?

While we are showing some off topic Natty adds, this one was bought in a BCCG holder and crossed at the National to an SGC 8. I was thrilled since I paid 6-7 money for it

Default Nice pickups..

Matt, Todd, Greg nice cards.

I especially love the 57 Williams card. Funny story, I won that same card in a poker game almost 20 years ago. The guy (didn't know him well) lost a lot of money and asked me if I wanted his Ted Williams card for $1000. I told him I'd give him $200 for it. He was pissed and threatened to rip the card up before he'd sell it for $200. Long story short he ended up selling it to me for $200. About five years ago I had it graded (PSA 5 I think) and sold it for $140 a short time after that.

Greg, always fun buying cards in person at a show, especially the National. Great Mantle cards!

technically july pick ups, but sent in for review/crossovers and arrived safely home today.

mays was a sgc 5.5 and mantle was simply in a psa blue flip. extremely happy w/ both, needless to say:

she is now a pop 1 w/ only 1 higher:

Happy to pick up this '54 Topps Ted Williams in the MattyC/Probstein auction. Love the centering on this card.

Very Nice cards. I should have waited for a Mays centered like that but I was happy with the card and deal I got.

not sure how I missed your mays, but just went back and looked...I think it's a great looking card and would put your centering in the top 98th percentile. she is an absolute beast to find in anything that can even be described as a "centered" card!

seriously!

Hello All,

First time poster, long time reader. However, on this purchase, I have to post the cards here.
Had my eye on the Mathews for a long time, finally made the plunge.

Thanks...
