I have yet to hear an explanation why this obscure player is in a set that otherwise has all Reds.

I've had a Jack Dempsey Orcajo, others can be found of musicians and other interesting people of the time period.

A recent National pickup that caught my eye.
If anyone has any information about this postcard such as team or age, it would be greatly appreciated. Jantz |

Jim, according to Lemke it is part of the set. But what you say makes sense.

1. c. 1911 rppc. Portland Giants (Oregon).
2. 1908 rppc. Likely Minneapolis Keystones players Topeka Jack Johnson at bat, George Hopkins (dark sweater), Arthur Irwin (right). 3. 1908 rppc. Likely St. Paul Gophers players Will McMurray (holding bat) and Dude Lytle (sweater; might also be Will Horn). 4. 1910 Akron Champs winning the Ohio-Pennsylvania pennant 4-1 over Canton. 5. 1909 Oregon baseball tournament. Falls in the "Picture of the Year" department. Note the ball in the upper right.

The Prineville v. Bend rivalry was probably fierce. Any team from Crook County was instantly skeptical. Got the same rap around here, former name of Ellensburg was "Robber's Roost".
Love the Portland Giants PC, some of them are almost recognizable after further research . As always remarkable PC's sir.Do you believe those PC's of the Gophers were in Minnesota or after they moved to the PNW? Last edited by pariah1107; 08-19-2015 at 04:18 PM. |
