Interesting how this thread is morphing into a postwar-vint and Modern thread. Where are the Delahanty Bros when you need them?

This thread has got to be a great boost to the egos of the "other" brother(s).

Ramon Martinez was actually a very good pitcher...didn't get the hype that his younger brother did but the guy was solid in his own right. Went 20-6 one year, was 135-88 lifetime with a no-hitter under his belt.
Sandy Alomar was in the same bucket...he was a 6x All-star and fairly solid player in his own right. |

I wouldn't call Sandy Alomar Jr. Underachieving he played 20 years batted well above his weight and for what it's worth (if anyone believes this is a defense) he was a 6 time all-star

Well now that I have been called out on my lack of early 80s Cardinals knowledge, it's time to drop an elbow off the top ropes...

I think if we changed this to less successful sons of baseball playing fathers it could go on for years.

![]() Even with a murdering brother that only played 3 years I think it is safe to say that Bill's career was the under achieving career. Even with Marty's mental issues teams found ways to keep him in the line up until the mental issues finally took him and his family down. Where as Bill, in a 11 year career, only hit above .200 once (and that was still a low .227 in 1903).
