This thread has got to be a great boost to the egos of the "other" brother(s).

Ramon Martinez was actually a very good pitcher...didn't get the hype that his younger brother did but the guy was solid in his own right. Went 20-6 one year, was 135-88 lifetime with a no-hitter under his belt.
Sandy Alomar was in the same bucket...he was a 6x All-star and fairly solid player in his own right. |

Jim Perry won a Cy Young Award (1970) when he went 24-12. He won over 200 games in his career.......

And Gaylord won 23 that year. But that's not the record, it's held by the Dean boys. The Niekros of course hold the career record.

How about a less achieving sibling of the most "obscure" carded player?

Anyone have a card of Mike Corcoran? Allowed 14 runs in his only start back in 1884 for the White Stockings. I have a card or two of his brother, but none for the older Corcoran

Here's a cabinet with Zach, Mack, and Basil Wheat. Oldest brother (Zack) went on to become a HOFer, middle brother (Mack) played 6 seasons in the Major Leagues, while youngest brother (Basil) played C and OF in the minor leagues for several years (at least according to SABR).

Less famous, but at least he has a song about him. Larry Yount, Robin's older brother.

Actually saw him play quarterback for Iowa when I was there. Threw a ball 70 yards. Incredible. Then nothing

I wouldn't call Sandy Alomar Jr. Underachieving he played 20 years batted well above his weight and for what it's worth (if anyone believes this is a defense) he was a 6 time all-star
