found this in a random set of boxes and took a while to research as it's blank backed, but seems to be called the 1998 rayovac mini and bvg seems to be the only company that grades them, not that i plan on getting it graded:

Adam, very cool piece of ephemera!
One of the Buffalo newspapers did a similar series featuring Bison (International League) players in... must've been 1963,
we remember Pumpsie Green being in the set. Clipped 'em and saved 'em as kids, and as kids will, eventually lost 'em at some point.
Anybody here ever seen (or have) any of those?

Mark: "Did we not know how to cut w/scissors back in the day?!?"
That would explain the barbers we went to back then...

I really enjoy seeing all of the oddball items and I'll have to post some more Brooksie junk if no one posts (since that's all I got).

Rob... Know you gotta have some unique Giants items to post.

David... Those Brock odd items are awesome; got some more?!?

Al... Keep 'em coming!

In the meantime how bout a pic that screams the '70's.

Default Ryan Proof

Bob,

Forgot to mention that I really liked the Ryan proof. Can you provide some detail on this one?

Been enjoying this thread - I have lived in the oddball baseball world for a long time, so fun to see the posts! Been meaning to contribute, but work and life stuff always gets in the way!

I really like the H-O Oatmeal records. Picked one up with the original envelope and order form quite few years back. Nice combination of a color and a b&w image on the front and back.

I agree on the H-O Oatmeal. I picked up my only one at a National several years back when it just caught my eye on the last day as something that was a perfect buy for leftover cash. Also have the order form but no envelope. Too bad they didn't have a larger player selection though.

Nice Campy, Todd! I am guessing that it was probably a NYC and surrounding area thing, given the Brooklyn address of the company, and the selection of 2 Dodgers, 1 Yank (Allie Reynolds), and 1 Giant (Whitey Lockman). I have seen them listed as 52 or 53, but the envelope is postmarked January of 55, so I am guessing 53 or probably 54 is more likely. I would suspect that the record has them speaking and giving tips, but I have been hesitant to drop a record needle on mine!

I really like these records as well and especially like the way the B&W portion has the player displayed with the cool looking field background. Thanks for sharing.

I know the O's had a few over the years; here's a pic of one...

The first is a self explanatory unlicensed item. The second piece was made to keep your cigs from getting crushed. There is a 1951 schedule on the back.

Here's a coffee percolator presented to Ira Blue when the Giants arrived in SF. My buddy has one presented to Eddie Murphy (presumably, not that Eddie Murphy). Also shown is a coffee decanter. Here's the lowdown on Ira Blue:

Default Giants

Rob,

Thanks for sharing! You pretty much know that someone has to have great odd-ball items when they have (no cards) in their signature.

Love the items!

I was working at Home Base around the time Jordan was pitching for Rayovac. I have something similar and I think they were stickers. I remember they were inside packages of batteries, but they really weren't cards per se. He was all over the packaging and point of sale displays too.

I have them somewhere, but finding them right now would be a miracle.

very cool! if ya end up finding some one day, lemme know. would definitely be interested in seeing/purchasing one.

actually found this while trying to research and figure out where this came from. it was $5 shipped and figured I couldn't go wrong considering it's still in oem packaging. who knows. it could take off one day w/ how crazy jordan collectors can be. it's actually a nice compliment to it....

love that it says "best if used by jan 2005"
