Default First ever baseball card

Nice Yaz collection! The first pack of cards I ever bought and my only 1972 pack contained Yaz and I still have the card. Its pretty rough as i was five years old at the time and carried that card around for years with my 1973s thru 1975s in an old metal keyed box. Just for fun i will post a picture of it tomorrow.

Default Yaz

My dad is a huge Yaz fan. He's not much of a memorabilia collector, but I try to pick him up a Yaz item once a year...when Jim stinson offered this one up a few years back I couldn't pass it up... It's signed by the entire Yaz Family, more than likely during spring training of Carl's rookie campaign... It has since been framed with a photo of Carl Sr. During his semi pro days! With his two sons (Richard and Carl) who were bat boys at the time....

Wow, that's pretty awesome. The Sox actually had sent a scout to Long Island to scout Carl Sr when they discovered junior. It sounds like senior was a hell of a good ball player himself.

And I gotta say, that's the only Hattie Yastrzemski signature I've ever seen.

Default Yaz

I met Yaz in Cooperstown in the Summer of 1989....when he was inducted into the HOF. We had a brief conversation. A really nice guy.

I don't have one but I think a Yaz bat would be a neat crossover collectors item.

I pick up Yaz items frequently and I promise not to post them all, but I was excited about this one that came today. I hadn't planned to upgrade my PSA 4, but this 6 is much nicer in terms of corners and centering, and the price was right. Only 7 copies graded higher, so very happy with a nice mid grade copy:

Don't promise to "not post them all"; shoot...post them all! As a single player collector, although not Yaz, I enjoy seeing others cards that collect similarly. Plus you gotta love Yaz!

Some of the more vintage among my recent Yaz additions:

That's a Venezuelan.

Got my own 74 Topps Stamps panel. I think I'm going to separate the single though.

Very excited about this addition. The Peel Offs have DREADFUL centering problems. While not perfectly centered, it's hard to find one with this much white space on all 4 sides.

Your right; the peel-offs really do tend to be all over the place in regard to centering. You instruction back example looks great to me. Do you already have the blank back example? I have both examples of Brooks Robinson, but I picked them up years and years ago when most people didn't even think about centering (at least I didn't).

Unsure if you collect proofs, but several years ago I picked up some Brooks progressive proofs (color separations) of the peel offs. For some reason, unknown to me, I really like the proof stuff. Probably will be worth little to most others, but I like 'em.
