First off, Chris, that Tin Top of White is stunning in its red background color.
Secondly, I fought the snow and ice and drove about 11 hours (Normal is 7 1/2 hrs) round trip to the Chicago show on Saturday. (The old Chicago Sun Times show). I had a great, relaxing time tempted by 3 main items that I was interested in. The two dealers that I decided to pass on were very polite and cordial even in my declining of doing business with them, so if I ever get a chance to buy from them in the future, I will. But I did decide to spend my allowance on 3 great cards. The two Goudeys are towards my low grade 33 set and the Ruth is something I have always wanted. It is the 1922 E121 "Montage" pose. I love this card of Ruth in his prime, with the idol/godlike image of him in the background of him standing in a full view Yankees Uniform. LOVE this card!!! Thanks to Kristin and Chris Buckler for selling them to me at a very satisfying price. Tim Kindler |

Agreed. Ruth cards continue their popularity. Great pick ups and the montage Ruth is a wonderful card.

First are the four cards that came from the recent Huggins & Scott Auction. Thanks to board member Scott who gave me the opportunity to add them to the rebuilt collection....
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then, as a Christmas gift for our son, who finishes his Masters Degree in English Lit this coming spring, a card that has a stamp of F. Scott Fitzgerald (supposedly). When studying in France for a semester several years ago, he became quite taken with Fitzgerald, and since that time, I've been trying to find a card with his stamp (supposedly) that I could justify the price on. This was on Ebay (where the scan is just a screen shot, I've already wrapped the card), with no real mention of the stamp. Came by it pretty cheap. ![]() ![]() Again, thanks to everyone who is helping me rebuild Howe's collection.

Just picked up this Lawrence J. Corcoran N172 card, shown on Indianapolis. Word on the streets is that he also has a London variation.

Im counting this as the T209 Mascot card as I dont believe one is pictured in any other card from the issue. The backgrounds of T209 are littered with fellow teammates and I think I have a very interesting theory on one ill post soon after I think on it a little more. Oh and if anyone has the name of the 1910 Fayetteville Mascot I would be most grateful.
Thanks to seablaster Hi K I found out two brothers by the name of Napier were the Mascots for the 1910 team. Until its determined which brother it is G. or E. ill just call it the T209 Mascot Napier card. Last edited by Piratedogcardshows; 11-26-2015 at 10:35 AM. |
