50's and 60's guys are amazingly kind. I'm working on some 80's sets and about 1 in 20-25 will return a short note or their own custom with the card I send. (I hardly ever send more than one card) The older guys were on a whole different level. Many would respond with a short note or more. I remember I sent a 58' Topps to Daryl Spencer and he responded that the card must have been damaged in transit (was probably a poor condition card in the first place) and sent me a 56-57-New 58-59-60-61-62-and 63 signed Topps.

I wrote to him a few years ago and he sent a few extra signed photos, newspaper clippings, and a signed pamphlet. You can tell he truly appreciates it when baseball fans contact him.
