there is a tool (I forgot what it was called) that can do a search of eBay auctions so you can get an idea of what the market price is for a particular player.
When you do an ebay search on a card, scroll down the left-hand column till you get to "Completed Listings" [under the Show only category]. Click this on and it will show you every sale of that card on ebay over the last several months. This, along with SMR and CardTarget, should give you a good idea of what a card goes for.
