Had a discussion a couple a years ago with a board member who felt the buy in for a m101 Ruth be a $100k before long. Guess he was right.

I keep setting money aside to pick up a low grade '52 Mantle. After every auction I feel I fall farther behind since the values increase. This is truly driving me crazy. I doubt I'll ever be able to own one at this rate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have heard PSA is really stingy nowadays on giving out important, low pop 10s. I think there is still a lot of great 1950s to 1970s cards sitting in almost new condition and unknown to us today. * "almost new" is a new grade I just made up. Thank you very much. .

The consensus is that PSA has been stingy on handing out the right grades to the average submitter on low pop or important cards for a very long time. For the last year or so they have been overly tight assessing your basic high grade material--in post war that means 8s or better. Of course they will deny the grading standards have changed at all.

The link was for a PSA 6, but the OP noted a PSA 5? A PSA 6 sold for $204K about a year ago. The linked PSA 6 is a little rougher. Unless I misunderstood, card appears to be going down in value, not up.

If I were psa I would be stingy. That will mean more cracks and resubs, as well as being price supportive of the cards and the flip.

SMR for a PSA 6 Ruth sporting news rookie is $195k. If one were to sell in auction it would probably sell for at least $400k. So the Ruth 1916 M101 sporting news rookie is exploding upwards in value. Last edited by Jdoggs; 02-26-2016 at 07:41 PM. |

It sold right away so someone thought it was a good buy. I agree. The 51 mays psa 7 for 11k was nice too.
