Pepsi was mentioned earlier. This is a little outside pre 1980 but although the first 3 Yanks and header can be found without too much problem, the rest were unissued and are very tough. I think I am still missing one, likely and OF guy

Topps, at least until the point they sold to Eisner's group and changed things up and started doing intentionally what had previously just been part of their daily operations, was still putting out tough sets and tests and goof ups and etc. into the 2000's. There are a number of scarce and rare post 1980 cards and sets out there-I just use that as a cutoff since 1980 is the end of the monopoly era.

76 Hostess green/yellow instead of red/blue.
I got a small batch of them from a friends neighbor in maybe 1979 or 80. Traded a McCovey Washington for them, and stupidly then traded half the batch to the local dealer for another McCovey. They have every appearance of being issued on boxes. But are screened entirely differently from the regular ones, and the batch included numbers over 150. I've never seen any others. There was a fairly local Hostess bakery so maybe some test prints got out to the packaging line somehow. I don't think the kids family had any connection to Hostess, I'd have probably asked since I was always after the shelf ads or any other promotional stuff I could find. The RC cola guy promised he'd send something but never did. I also met a Topps rep who claimed that he had boxes of some fairly tough stuff that he'd kept rather than put it out with retailers. (greatest moments, 74 deckle, that sort of stuff.) None was for sale since he figured it would be worth a lot more later on. I've always wondered if that stuff ever turned up. Steve B |

Love those. I'll put up a scan of a Banks and Santo when I get home.
