My point was you need both. It won't mean much without a title. But 73-9 with a title and it would be hard to argue against them as the greatest team of all time. I disagree with calling it meaningless.

There is no chance IMO this team, 73 wins or not, is better than the Magic Kareem Worthy Lakers, or the Bird McHale Parish Walton DJ Celtics.

There is no right or wrong answer on issues like that, but they're fun to discuss. I think many would view this season as the greatest ever with a title and the record. But it's hard to compare against a dynasty that won 4, 5, or 6 titles. But either of those examples, one season against this year's golden state team, or the 96 Bulls, the results and records speak for themselves.

You cant say this era is easier than back in the day just like that...there are far better european players on teams that were not playing in the 50s to 80s and far less in the 90s compared to today...there were no tony parkers, dirk norwiski, ginoobli etc...given the same opportunites back in the magic days.... |

ironic the op's name is talkingbaseball. even if they get the record and championship they are no way the best team ever. this ain't baseball anyway, you can't compare different eras with all the rule changes.
curry is a freak and god-moding the game right now and opening up everything else for the team. the developers seriously need to nerf his abilities to balance out the game. take out curry and they'd have trouble grinding out a series vs a bottom seed. talk about draymond's swagger that gives the team confidence etc but you need curry's execution to back it up.

Minute to go, looks like they've ended the 18 year losing streak in SA and tied the Bulls. Gotta give it up to these guys, they're making it really tough at the end of the year by losing to lesser teams, but keep stepping up against the top teams. Last game at home is no gimme, but think most didn't give them a shot to run the table after that Twolves loss.
Lots are making the argument that their players need rest, but Curry's minutes have been pretty moderate all year (he's sat like a dozen or more 4th quarters, and all the guys that needed to get healthy are back (Festus, Bogut, Iguadola). I actually think going for the record, as opposed to sitting guys, will help them by keeping them sharp. I'd rather enter the playoffs having won "must win" type games, as opposed to playing out the final month on cruise control. No matter what, this has been a fun ride. |
